The Royal Navy Club first had it's roots in 1674, and over 100 years later had Admiral Nelson as a member.
Dinners and meetings were held at various pubs.
It is interesting to note that after Nelson's death, it was not the Battle of Trafalgar that they celebrated but the battle of Copenhagen, which only began in 1831. It was not till 1833 the first Trafalgar dinner was added. The first Trafalgar dinner was held October 21 1833 at the Crown and Anchor Pub
